Virtual Fair Format & Zoom Tips
How will the Fair work in a virtual format?
On your registration form, you will indicate up to 7 site supervisors you would like to meet with at the Fair. You can read about each site supervisor and the internship(s) they are offering on the "Internship Offerings" page. Based on your responses, the Internship & Networking Committee will work with Erin to create a personalized Fair schedule for you, featuring up to 7 meetings with site supervisors. We will work to incorporate your stated interests and preferences in this process! Meetings will last 10 minutes, with 5-minute breaks in between. Most meetings will be 1-on-1, but if many students wish to meet with a particular supervisor, we may arrange for students to meet that supervisor in groups of 2.
The entire Fair will begin with all of us on one Zoom call to welcome each other and be in the community. Each site supervisor will have their own zoom room after we welcome everyone together. Each supervisor you meet has created their own zoom room with the links that will be provided on your detailed schedule. At the designated transition time, you will enter your first site supervisors' zoom room. After ten minutes you will then take a 5-minute break and hop on the next zoom link of the site supervisor with whom you are scheduled to meet next. The original welcome zoom link will also be a "break room" that you are welcome to enter anytime. It will be always hosted by at least one SDA student, and it's an informal space to catch your breath, relax, debrief--whatever you need! Erin will be there for folks who need extra support or advice and Dr. Paige will be there for Capstone students looking for best tips and tricks for networking.
Why does the registration form limit the number of supervisor meetings to 7?
There are 7 meeting slots total within the Fair timeframe (4:00-6:00pm). If you choose to meet with 7 supervisors, your meetings will be back-to-back with 5-minute breaks in between. If you choose to meet with 5-6 supervisors, you'll have some longer "breaks" within your Fair schedule.
What if I want to connect with more than 7 supervisors?
You are encouraged to reach out to additional supervisors after the Fair! Supervisors are open to hearing from students after the Fair, and their contact information is listed under their internship description in the program. It's great to meet with a supervisor at the Fair before applying for their internship, but it's not required.
